MAPS was first organized in 2007 by a handful of bird lovers, mostly breeders at that time. Today we have grown in membership and knowledge. Most of the 50 or so members fall under pet owners instead of breeders. The clubs' main means of support has been private supporters until now, as we will be organizing an annual bird fair that will be held in March of 2009. This will be our 1st Bird fair and we have hopes that it will get bigger and better beyond that. We will be donating 25% of our profits to an avian organization, that by a vote from our members could be one of the following , The World Parrot Trust The Tropics The Gabriel Foundation The John Ball Park Zoo Also to our area Vets Research and Learning Fund. (More Avian Organizations to be listed soon). Because this is a bird society, your birds are welcome to bring you along. We do ask that you have had your bird for at least 30 days and have brought no new birds into your flock. You may also just attend a meeting as a guest and enjoy the camaraderie or the guest speaker.
